Semester Updates

We have reached the end of the road! I would like to share the projects that I have worked on this semester, so I have made several updates to my blog. If you will visit each tab, you will find papers, maps, plans, pictures, and links to view each project. There are examples for each tab, and I am happy with all the finished products.

My personal favorite is the Video Project, where you will find a video of my celebrity boyfriends! Check it out!

Why learn a foreign language?

Welcome to Spanish class!

I am sure that some of you may be thinking: Why do I need to learn a foreign language? Well, I think that throughout the semester, you will all discover the benefits of learning a second language, particularly Spanish! We will be learning about the language and the cultures that speak it. You will find that Spanish is exciting, challenging, and worth every assignment!

This week, I would like you to examine the picture below as well as the corresponding quote. Think about what it means. Also, think about the little girl in the picture- Where is she from? What is her life like?

"Yo se quien soy" - Don Quijote

painting I saw and loved in Cuenca, Ecuador

Well, Don Quijote knows who he is, but I'm still figuring that one out. Of course I know the basics, but I think I have a lot of living and learning ahead of me. Also, I just watched Eat Pray Love like 2hours ago, so I am feeling quite inspired and introspective.

To most, I am the pale, curly haired vegetarian that speaks Spanish. Its all true. I'm practically allergic to the sun, I have unruly hair, I haven't eaten meat since the wise old age of nine, and I can communicate with the Spanish speaking world. All fascinating stuff, huh?

I LOVE: lamp, laughing, singing, quoting Anchorman and Zoolander, techno, Dave, flipflops, the Torito, chips and salsa, dancing, TV, trees, kickboxing and jiu jitsu, my family, my peeps, Lady Gaga, Twilight, McDonald's sweet tea, and Ecuador. Dave Matthews and Rob Dyrdek are my boyfriends.

But on the academic side of things....I graduated from Hampton High School in 2002. Then I graduated from ETSU in 2007 with my degrees in English and Spanish. I attended UT for a year, hated it, and took a year off....that's when I decided teaching might be a good schedule and experience for me. So, here I am. An aspiring Spanish teacher.

I am really excited to get into the "real world." I have many, many other goals that I want to accomplish in life, so I'm taking it one step at a time.
